The Kawasaki Group has established "The Kawasaki Group AI Ethics Policy" to be followed in promoting AI initiatives in business activities.
Mission of the Kawasaki Group
The Kawasaki Group's mission is to contribute to the betterment of the lives of people around the world and the future of the global environment. To achieve this goal, we have responded to the needs of diverse customers by creating new value with originality and innovation in order to form a prosperous and beautiful society in the future while maintaining harmony with the global environment through our advanced comprehensive technological capabilities across land, sea, and air.
AI-Related Initiatives and Current State of AI
The Kawasaki Group has been engaged in research and development of AI-related technologies since early days and has used them to improve product performance and quality and optimize manufacturing processes. Based on “Group Vision 2030: Trustworthy Solutions for the Future.”, we have begun taking swift action and taking on challenges to provide solutions for social issues, transcending various boundaries. We aim to create a sustainable society by proactively providing innovative solutions utilizing the latest AI technology.
On the other hand, as the use of highly advanced AI has progressed rapidly, ethical issues such as the infringement of human rights and privacy by improper use, the promotion of discrimination, and concerns about the safety of autonomous industrial products are drawing attention and becoming a widespread social issue. In response to this situation, various discussions are taking place around the world, and a growing number of laws and guidelines with penalties are being issued.
Establishment of AI Ethics Policy and Promotion of Governance
Considering these circumstances, we have established the Kawasaki Group AI Ethics Policy, which must be followed to continue expanding the development and use of AI-related technologies.
We will continue to strive to provide products and services that are not only highly functional and high-performance, but also safe and secure to use, by establishing guidelines that expand this policy into concrete actions, conducting evaluation and education, and running a governing body to enforce governance of AI use."
